Wix and WordPress are often presented as if one is universally “better”. That is not useful. They solve different problems well.
Wix is strong when you want to build it yourself
Hosting, editing and platform maintenance are bundled together. A small business owner who enjoys DIY and wants one company responsible for the platform can get a good result without hiring a developer.
WordPress is strong when portability matters
A self-hosted WordPress site can be moved between compatible hosts and developed by a huge range of suppliers. That reduces dependence on the original designer and is one reason we use it for client builds.
SEO
Both platforms can be indexed and ranked. The bigger difference is usually the quality of the content, site structure, internal linking, speed and authority — not the logo on the CMS. WordPress gives developers more freedom to control the technical implementation, while Wix removes more of that technical responsibility from the user.
Which should a small business choose?
If your main goal is to build and maintain the site yourself, Wix deserves serious consideration. If you want somebody else to build a site you own and may want to move or expand later, WordPress is often the more flexible fit.
